Talking Statue Garden of Champions

I would like to see statue garden. This would have exact replicas of characters who have earned a special title. They would be shown off in major cities. The exact replica statues would have a plaque at there feet explaining what they did to deserve the statue it would also include the persons in game name profession and guild if applicable. All players could look, see, and envy this. It could be updated once a week. Characters created in Factions can have there own statues as well as characters created in Tyria. Examples of ways to earn a statue would be (Most Experience Ever Earned) (Most Kills Ever) (Most Time Ever Played) (Highest Damage Ever Dealt) (Most Deaths Ever) (and maybe 5-10 random players would be selected weekly with a random title like Tyrian Protector) The person awarded would receive a certificate / letter explaining there title, and were the statue is displayed it would appear in there inventory, and disappear when they lose the title.

Just a thought

Any opinions?

Most experience: Bot 1 yay! Hey this would be a good way to find and ban bots.
Most Kills Ever: Omg its the same guy, its bot 1!
Most time ever played: I'm starting to see a pattern, bot 1 is famous!
Most Deaths Ever: death farming anyone? This takes mad skill :\

Highest Damage Ever Dealt: I could get this one, go into a scrimmage with a lvl 1 E/W using frenzy / heal sig. You be a war with eviscerate and get you know, str of honor, JI, or just go ele and use chain on him for a good 1k damage. If your doing anymore than like 146 (which is 16 air orb) then its your opponents fault for using frenzy like a moron.

Well, as cool as it sounds, I tend to agree with TadaceAce, in that botters would hold many of these "prestigious" positions. I think this would be a cool idea for PvP based awards, such as the guild who wins the championship, the person with the most fame, the person with the most PvP kills, etc. It would be nice to see some of it for PvE, but there really isn't much to accomplish.

Even though I am an HoH and GvG player, I must admit this is a very original thought and it surely would add something extra value to the game for PvE players. Currently, many PvE players are bored after completing the game, since there is nothing left than waiting for the next expansion. Clearing out UW or FoW or completing The Deep or Urgoz are not challenging anymore after doing it several times. We must not forget that PvE is also a part of this game too and it is the largest group of players and they deserve a goal in the game so that they keep on playing.

There are some specific rewards for players. For HoH players there is an emote (deer, wolf, tiger, phoenix, ....). For GvG players there is a champion trophy at the great temple of Balthazar, where names of players are eternalized in Guild Wars and the $100.000. But what is for PvE players? Titles? I must say many PvE players I talked to ingame are not very impressed of a title and most titles are very easy to get.

I fully agree with your thought and I would even go one step further.
In the Forbidden City, in ancient China, generals and imperial advisors who play a key role in the history have their own statue in the palace. In my opinion the highest reward for a PvE player would be to have his/her own statue somewhere in 'The Garden of Excellence' so that any other PvE player who passes by could admire the archievements.
My suggestion is that each account is allowed to place one statue in 'The Garden of Excellence' for one character in that account. This character will be (digitally, electronically) eternalized in Guild Wars. Whenever this character would be deleted, the statue will be destroyed likewise.

I suggest that there would be a price to be paid to place one statue. For example a high rediculous amount like 100 ectos, 100 shards, 100 amber, 100 jade, 100 rubies, 100 sapphires. (That would be like one full set of FoW armor, two full set of 15k Luxon armor, two full set of 15k Kurzick armor and may be 100 sapphire + 100 rubies for one full set of 'Elonian Armor'?)
Minimal archievement for this character would be like 2 Million experience (exact amount of experience needs to be determined).
Minimal playing time 1000 hours.
Minimal Elite skill captures: 100 skills
Must have been in all cities/town in at least 3 countries (in this case Tyria, Cantha and Elonian).

Next to the statue, there is a stone with a short history about that character and the guild he is in with its guild tag or a history of the player (i.e. owner of the account). That history must be approved by Anet/NCSoft first otherwise you may get some rubbish talk.

My suggestion is to have a place for PvE players. Like there is The Great Temple of Balthazar for HoH players and the Guild Hall for GvG players, there should be one for PvE players, too. This place is called The Ancient Garden of Dwayna, where the Garden of Excellence is situated with nice sightings and pictoresque views. This place should have a peaceful environment like the Pre-searing, giving us the feeling of eternal rest for heroes of ancient/forgotten times. The other option is to place statues at random places over the Guild Wars map where players may spot a statue when doing some quest or mission.

A friend of mine plays World of Warcraft and he made a similar suggestion to the developing team and got as reply 'extremely interesting ideas, worth considering as an option in future expansions'.
Anet/NCSoft would be the first and it would be for Anet/NCSoft a good strategic move to have these things before other competitive games may pick this idea.

Wow. This idea makes me want to play PvE, too!

I like how sakura talked about implementing it, would work well other than possibly that cost being too high.

This reminds me of the petition for a Kago statue in grotto, too. lol

First of all, thank you for reading my suggestions. I fully agree with you about the requirements for the statue. Prices are rediculous, but I did suggest a rediculous price on purpose, for a statue to honour your name is priceless. Still, I think this statue is the ultimate reward for PvE players and therefore a high price is acceptable. How many rank 12 are there at the moment? 10 to 20 players? How many guild have a gold rim on their guild cape? Only The Last Pride and Esoteric Warriors. Of course Anet/NCSoft will lower the price tag.
The other requirement is 2 Mil experience. In my humble opinion this is too low. 2 Mil XP is too easy to get and I suggest a higher amount.

Rank and Emotes are PvP rewards, the statue is a PvE only reward. Why bother with rank? Otherwise there is no chance for PvE players to get the statue.

Anymore more opinions on how to achieve a statue? Great suggestions so far.

I would like to stress again that a statue is account-linked and not character slot linked, so each account may only have one statue. The player may choose which character in that account gets the statue.

I suggest adding an extra quest called: 'Gaining Eternal Fame'. Here are the requirements that need to be met for this quest.
Requirements for the statue must contain many faces of PvE playing.
- Collecting/buying materials for the statue itself. For example, Clay and Steel as basic materials and some expensive gems as rare materials (Ectos, Shards, Ruby, Sapphire and possibly up-coming (but yet not existing) ivory)
- Completing some extraordinary PvE areas like: clearing out UW. FoW, SoF, killing Urgoz and killing Kanaxai. Furthermore, completing all the mission in chapter 1,2 and 3 with bonus/master reward on at least one character.
- Gaining at least 3 Mil XP (1 Mil XP for each chapter) on one of the characters on the account.
- Do one additional quest by kneeling down before the statue of Dwayna and get 'The Golden Heart' quest: Helping someone else in GW by giving away one extremely good item (max damage, max mods). The one who gets the item may look into your inventory and he may choose this max item. Instantly this item is customized for him (to prevent friends/guildies giving away items and lateron returning after completing this quest).

How about completion of all quests and missions at master level for Factions, or all quests and missions plus bonus on Prophecies. This would activate a special area on the map Temple of the Gods were you can meet the all of the gods and complete a solo elite mission or solo quests for each god. Once completed the statue is awarded. And also as a reward you can make a green item (hand picked mods / type of weapons) of your choice. The weapon would have your In-game in it.

Sounds good in theory, but would be weird in the end as the statue might have to change too much.

Default The idea of Hall of Monument

The Hall of Monument that will be released with GW:EN sounds very familiar to this old suggestion of mine. It might be derived or even inspired by the idea of the Garden of Excellence. If so, thanx Anet for a listening ear!

Hehe n1 Every. Way to not notice the necromancy.

I agree though Sakura, the Hall of Mounuments in GW:EN sounds very similar to this old suggestion. Could just be coincidence though.

I have to disagree with you in several instances. Some titles, e.g. Protector, Guardian, Vanquisher, Skill Hunter will be very hard for bots to obtain.
But unfortunately, even I have to agree with you that you are right!

Agreed. There are only 3 trophies awarded in the Great Temple of Balthazar for top finishers, and if we don't want this new garden to be overcrowded (or have 1000 districts of it), we need high expectations. 2 mil exp is nothing to a PvE character. I probably acquired that amount of exp from PvP alone. Make it something like 10 mil exp. I would suggest that the character would need at least 10-15 max titles as well as having 1000+ hours logged on the character on top of the material requirement. In fact, those requirements are really nothing for the upper-tiered PvE'rs that deserve a statue. Remember, this is meant to be a place for the worthy, not everyone who plays this game can get it.

Too bad hall of monuments isn't exactly like this, but I really like their implementation.
